WINTERIZATION PROTOCOLS
WHY WE WINTERIZE
All renters staying at any of The RV Patch locations during the months of November through February must have all the proper winterization equipment, supplies, and knowledge necessary to protect both their camper/RV and property of The RV Patch including the utility box and water line/connection.

Please keep in mind that one camper, not properly winterized, can have a domino effect on all the campers in the campground. For this reason, should the owners, management, or any authorized representative of The RV Patch make a visual determination that a camper is not "cold weather ready", the water and/or entire utility box may be shut off and locked to protect other campers, equipment, and property.

The RV Patch is only responsible for providing and maintaining mechanicals up to connection points. The RV Patch is not responsible for any mechanicals or equipment associated with an individual camper/RV. Renter shall have an emergency plan and contact person/company in place to assist during inclement weather and/or for camper/RV related emergencies and general maintenance.
HOW WE WINTERIZE
All campers/RVs shall be equipped with a heated water hose, propane, and antifreeze solution for all interior drains (toilets/sinks). The renter is solely responsible for the proper winterization of their camper/RV.
If you are a full-time camper:
-
-
The heated water hose shall be installed BEFORE the temperature drops below 35 degrees.
-
If the power goes out due to weather, renter must turn off water, disconnect the water hose from the spigot, and drain the hose.
-
If a camper/RV is not actively in use, pour 1 cup of antifreeze solution down all interior drains (sinks/toilets) and drip faucets. "Not actively in use" is defined as unoccupied for two or more hours when temperatures are below 25 degrees.
-
Renter will ensure propane tank is full prior to temperatures dropping below 50 degrees. Additionally, renter will keep at least one propane refill tank on hand for back-up purposes.
-
It is strongly suggested that campers/RV's have skirting around the entire bottom of the unit for added insulation and protection against tanks and water lines freezing due to wind.
-

If camper/RV is not occupied on a full-time basis, blow out the lines using 35 pounds of pressure, pour 1 cup of antifreeze down all interior drains, remove drain plug from the hot water heater, turn off water and disconnect hoses from both your camper/RV filter and from RV Patch provided spigots, and drain your on-board filter if you have one.
FAILURE TO WINTERIZE
Should a renter fail to properly winterize their camper/RV and it results in damage to equipment and/or property of The RV Patch, the renter shall bear sole financial responsibility to repair and/or replace the damage.
